Domain Parking

The whole idea behind domain parking is to allow domain owners to be able to get some return on their investment during the period that their domain sites are unused. An example can be during development.

Follow up:

Wiki goes on to define domain parking as “Domain parking refers to the registration of an Internet domain name without that domain being used to provide services such as e-mail or a website. This may have been done to reserve the domain name for future development, and to protect against the possibility of cybersquatting. Since the domain name registrar will have set name servers for the domain, the registrar or reseller potentially has use of the domain rather than the final registrant.

Domain parking can be classified as monetized and non-monetized. In the former, advertisements are shown to visitors and the domain is ‘monetized’. In the latter, an “Under Construction” or a “Coming Soon” message may or may not be put up on the domain by the registrar or reseller. This is a single-page website that people see when they type the domain name or follow a link in a web browser. Domain names can be parked before a web site is ready for launching.”

Well known domain parking sites include the following
# Sedo
# Godaddy
# Parked

There are alot more that are quite good or cowboys however I am yet to meet a domain parking service provider that allows International Domain Names (IDN) domains in other languages apart from English! It seems hard to try and monetise a Korean/Japanese/Chinese website when most domain parking services do not have the capacity to allow for adverts in that language.

If you read this and you know of a domain parking service that allows for Korean/Japanese/Chinese languages in keywords, adverts etc please do not hesitate to contact me with the link :D

These parked domains can even earn more than fully developed domains. http://www.nowiw.com/

I am not aware of http://www.nowiw.com.

Had a brief look at it but not sure about the revenue share as I have not seen any info on the site but will investigate further.

Cheers
